Mattresses Explained

BONNEEL SPRING

Bonnell springs ( also referred to as open coil springs ) are essentially one wire which is twisted around throughout the mattress to provide a platform for the mattress to be built on. They are the most traditional spring system and we believe are a more suitable option if on a budget or for guest rooms children's room and where a higher level of support may not be absolutely necessary.

POCKET SPRUNG

Unlike other spring units the pocket spring system spreads the sleeper weights accross the surface. Pocket springs are individually wrapped coils, which sit within their own fabric pocket. The springs themselves are not linked together; meaning each spring is able to move independently. This provides enhanced support by adjusting to the contours of your body. Further support is given by the insulating material which surrounds these springs and what's more, this also prevents 'roll together' if you sleep with a partner. One of the biggest advantage to pocket springs, as you get in or out of bed or turn while you sleep there is no motion disturbances which mean your partner can sleep soundly. More pockets does necessarily mean its better or you are getting more for your money.

LATEX FOAM

A latex mattress combines latex foam with wither springs or reflex foam to create a supportive and durable sleep surface. Latex in its natural form comes from the sap of a rubber tree. Latex is more supportive than memory foam and as its naturally hyper allergenic it ideal for those suffering from allergies.it offers great support and comfort ideal for those suffering from any aches or pains.

MEMORY FOAM

Developed under a NASA contract in the 1970s that set out to improve seat cushioning and crash protection for airline pilots and passengers. Memory foam has widespread commercial applications, including mattresses and pillows. It works by becoming soft enough to mold around a person or body shape. This happens when the high-density, low-resilience polyurethane foam reacts to body heat. When the pressured is removed, it returns to its original shape. Memory foam is often layered on top of foam or a spring unit to provide more support.
